The Fourth Annual Cyber Security Summit co-hosted by the FBI, Raymond James, and the University of South Florida (USF), will take place February 08 - 09, 2006, at the Raymond James Financial Center in St. Petersburg, FL. The previous summits, held 01/2003, 01/2004 and 02/2005, were two day events attended by more than 250 people per day. The audience was a mixture of law enforcement (Federal, State, and Local), academia, and private industry. The purpose of these conferences has been to promote a closer working relationship between law enforcement, higher education, and private industry, on cyber crime and cyber terrorism matters.
Up to 16 hours of CPE credits can be awarded for attending the summit. The themes of the previous summits included "Forging The Alliance Against Cyber Terrorism," "Continuing The Alliance Against Cyber Terrorism", and "Securing The Infrastructure". This year’s summit will have the same goal and will be entitled "Cyber Security - Emerging Threats". The two day event will feature themes of Cyber-terrorism attacks, and Cyber attacks on the information infrastructure. Special emphasis will be placed on data security, Cyber-Espionage, Organized Cyber Crime, the Eastern European Threat, and Identity Theft. The summit will once again be held at RJ’s new state of the art digital auditorium/conference center. This facility can accommodate up to 360 people and can be configured to suit almost any type of presentation. This year’s summit will include individual presenters, as well as, panel discussions. These panel discussions will allow the attendees to take an interactive role in the summit, instead of merely listening to presentations. Based on previous year’s attendance, and inquiries to date, this summit is expected to draw approximately 300+ attendees per day. These attendees will include law enforcement (Federal, State and Local), private industry (CEO’s, COO’s, CIO’s, IT Management/Security, major financial institutions, brokerage firms), a wide array of academia, and a variety of InfraGard members. Previous year's summits were overwhelming successes with a wide array of speakers from private industry, the federal government, and the FBI (A/AD - Cyber, Section/Unit Chiefs Cyber, and Unit Chief of the IFCC). Previous key note speakers included Mr. Howard Schmidt, formerly President Bush's Chief Advisor on Cyber Issues, and Mr. Christopher Painter, USDOJ Chief of the Intellectual Property Rights Section. Last year's key-note speaker was Acting Assistant Director, Steven Martinez, FBI Cyber Division. The private industry speakers were all well known in the Information Management/Technology area. All of these speakers were authors of numerous books and publications. The success of this summit is also evident in the fact that other FBI divisions, to include Salt Lake City, Knoxville, Detroit, and Chicago, have since used the Tampa summit as a model to successfully promote their own cyber-summits. This year’s summit is expected to be covered by leading nationally known IT/IM publications. Several publications, including, CSO magazine, SC magazine, and the Wall Street Journal, have already requested from RJ and USF, invitations to attend. We invite you to view the agenda of the conference and hope to see you at the conference. |
